Bride speech at wedding celebrations – sigh! The day of your dreams is just around the corner and all the details are slowly but surely falling into place. You are anxious and a half by now, but you know it’s worth it. And while you are rushing to and fro, fitting, organizing, making phone calls – there is still a thought in the back of your mind, nagging you: the bride’s wedding speech. You got nothing so far. You have so many things in mind you’d like to share and how to let your future better half know how much you love him, so many people you’d like to express your gratefulness to . . . If only you could find a way to put it all on paper in a brief, funny and great-sounding way. Sigh!

When your future husband and you sat down one day and decided it would be great for both of you to give a speech, at wedding reception or rehearsal dinner, it sounded like a really good idea at the time. You agreed to each write your part, practice together a few times and then you’d blow your audience away with this amusing and memorable speech. If you remember right that was about a month and a half ago. You’ve seen your fiancée scribble something on a yellow pad the other day and he was all secretive about it and you were busy dealing with the choice of flower arrangements.
The wedding is pretty much upon you now and you’re dizzy thinking of everything – except your speech at wedding reception. You can’t even think about where to start. You’ve taken a moment and checked everywhere you could think of for some speech at wedding celebrations examples, but nothing you found sounded like you.
In the end you asked your mom for help, and even though she was really sweet about it and willing to help you, that didn’t really gel either. So basically you’re right where you started: with squat. And to top it all off, by now you’re just days away from the wedding day. Well, what you need is a plan – and right now too!

Do you recall the list of things you wanted to express to your future husband in your bride speech at wedding reception, how much you love him and all the ways you wanted to thank every one for their part in making this fantastic and long-awaited day become a reality?
To start, don’t sit down to write the speech itself. Take a day to write down everything that goes through your mind that you might want to mention in your wedding speech. Scribble it onto a yellow pad or even a napkin if necessary; just get it all on paper. It doesn’t have to be in order. For now it doesn’t even really have to make any sense. Just write it all down and also every person’s name you wish to mention (later on check with your mom and your mother-in-law if you got everybody, they’ll know).
Now when the day is over and you got a sheet full of notes (or several) take a calm moment, with a cup of tea and some of your favorite music, slip away and sit down with your sheet. If you’ll have a look at my next post, I will outline a basic structure for a speech at wedding receptions; a line of thought to follow that will take you safely from A to E without getting lost or taking too many detours.
